Crystalline Azure Lake of Jiuzhaigou National Park

The Jiuzhaigou National Park is located in Jiuzhaigou Valley and are part of Min Mountain stretching over 72,000 hectares of area on edge of Tibetan Plateau. The Jiuzhaigou National Park is known for its beautiful picturesque lakes, colourful lakes, snow-clad mountain, and multi-level waterfall. The Jiuzhaigou Valley is declared as World Heritage Site under IUCN (Protected Landscape) by UNESCO. The site was titled as World Heritage Site in year 1992, and was categorised as World Biosphere Reserve in year 1997.
Jiuzhaigau the words means ‘Nine Village Valley’. The valley was inhabited by several Qiang and Tibetan people for several centuries. Then after 1975, this area became little known and Chinese government took essential measures to protect this area. Today, the site is categorised as AAAAA scenic area by China government.
On declaring this site as tourist spot, tourist activity has rose from 1984. In year 1984 around 5,000 tourist visited this place, while in year 1991 around 170,000, then in 1995 around 200,000 in 1997. While today, the site is attracting around average of 7,000 visitors per day. The mesmerizing and incredible picturesque view is highest point of this place.
According to the survey conducted in year 2003, the population was 1,000 with 112-families. Since the land comes under protected nature park, no agriculture or any such related activity are allowed to carry. Hence, the local people earn their living from tourism. The town called Zhangzha at the end of valley has highest number of hotels.
The Jiuzhaigou National Park is today protected with buffer zones, Jiuzhaigou valley is covered around 278-sq-meter. Subtropical climate is recorded. Around 761-mm of annual rainfall is recorded, while 80% of rainfall occurs in the period of May-Sep. The annual temperature noted is around 7.8-celsicus.
The most elegant feature to see in Jiuzhaigou Valley is the Y-shape valley. The three valley compse to give Y-shape. The Zechawa and Rize flow and meet at centre where the Shuzheng valley flow toward north to the centre of valley. Most visitor opt for bus and visit Rize / Shuzheng gully. The Rize valley too have several tourist spot to visit.
