Temple Of Borobudur Oldest Buddha Monument in Central Java
The Temple Of Borobudur is one of the highest known monument of Buddhist in Indonesia. The temple was built in 8th and 9th century during the reign of Syailendra Empire. The Borobudur temple is today one of the greatest monument in Central Java, located in Kedu Valley. The temple is built in three tiers, the wall and railings are adorn with fine arts covered surface area of 2,520m2. The temple is considered as finest monument standing from 8th-9th century AD.
Located on the top of hill, it sits grandly reflecting its Gupta architecture surrounded by lush greenery spread enormously covering area of 123 X 123 meters. The structure reflects magnificent beauty of stonework, the temple is built without use of mortar or cement. The monument is built with help of Lego blocks without using glue. The temple was rediscovered in year 1815, which got buried under volcanic ashes. Then in year 1970, the temple took eight years and was restored to its elegant style, which was then declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

- Rupadhatu : world of systems
- Kamadhatu : world of needs
- Arupadhatu : World of shapelessness.
The giant stupa is around 40-meter high from the ground level, while main dome is surrounded by 72- Buddha statues. According to the Historians, the name of monument ‘Borobudur’ comes from Sanskrit language which means ‘Vihara Buddha Uhr’ or ‘Buddhist Monastery’.

The ideal time to visit this place is during full moon in month of May, the festival called Waisak is celebrated as birth and death of Buddha. The full moon in month of May is celebrated once in year, the temple is decorated with lights which gives the shrine a unique touch.
